Council might ask county for dam aid

Attempting to resolve delays and funding problems dogging the restoration of Hansen Dam, Councilman Richard Alarcon has proposed asking the Los Angeles County for $1.8 million in park funding to get the project back on track.

In addition, Alarcon's proposal, which will be heard by the full City Council next week, would formalize an oversight committee that has been meeting on its own to keep tabs on the project.

``What we have to do is get this moving again,'' Alarcon said. ``We've had enough delays and overrun. Now it's time to get it done.''
