 convicted of killing a Glendale man's son was continued Friday to May 7, but a judge agreed that Edward Dixon's two previous convictions should extend the time he spends in prison.

Superior Court Judge Curtis Rappe accepted the prosecutor's argument that Dixon's convictions for burglary burglary, at common law, the breaking and entering of a dwelling house of another at night with the intent to commit a felony, whether the intent is carried out or not.  and attempted burglary should add two years to Dixon's sentence of 16 years to life. They do not fall under the ``three strikes'' law.

Dixon has denied killing David Mekhrabian, a 22-year-old soldier in the Israeli army who was visiting his parents in September 1997. Drug traffic suspect free on $50,000 bail

A Burbank junior high school substitute teacher accused of shipping a box of cocaine to Hawaii was released Friday on $50,000 cash bond.

William D. Hubbell, whose mother is Burbank Board of Education member Elena Hubbell, is expected to be sent to Hawaii to face federal charges.

Hubbell, 32, has another hearing set for April 23 in Los Angeles, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Young.

He was arrested last week by U.S. drug agents and Burbank police officers as he left work at John Muir Junior High School.

The cocaine, with an estimated $80,000 street value, was seized in Hilo, on the east side of the Big Island, where another man was arrested, according to according to
