BRIEFLY : INTERACTIVE COUNCIL, MAYOR'S FORUMS SET.


PALMDALE - The Palmdale Chamber of Commerce's Legislative Committee and Jones Channel 3 will host two interactive candidate forums for mayoral and council candidates.

Council candidates will appear live from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday from the Highland High School Highland High School or Highlands High School may refer to:

LANCASTER - Lancaster Elks Lodge will honor local law enforcement personnel Tuesday at its annual Law Enforcement Night.

Coalition will focus on helping homeless

BAKERSFIELD - Citizens and several public and private agencies have banded together to create a countywide collaboration to address homelessness in Kern County.

The plan is to extend services to the homeless and come up with a plan to prevent homelessness.

``One of the things we need to do is get a good fix on homelessness in all areas of the county,'' said Gene Saint-Amand, housing coordinator for the Kern County Department of Mental Health.

Kern County estimates its homeless population between 3,000 and 6,000.

For nine years, Steve anchored the WGN News at Noon, consistently Chicago's top-rated noontime television newscast.  of Kern County Network For Children, which will oversee the collaboration, said it will provide a unified voice for the homeless population and allow better access to policy-makers and community resources.
