(messaging) MTA - Message Transfer Agent. panel to vote on shuttle funds A Metropolitan Transportation Authority board committee is expected to vote Thursday on a proposal to provide emergency funding of $600,000 for Smart Shuttle service in the San Fernando Valley and other areas. The meeting is at MTA headquarters downtown, and the public may attend and comment on the issue. The four shuttle demonstration projects - in the West Valley, East Valley, MacArthur Park area and South Central - had higher first-year costs, lower ridership and lower revenues than anticipated. The drafting committee of the Elected and Appointed Charter Reform Commissions decided to try on Saturday to reach agreement on whether the plan should be phased in or take effect all at once on July 1, 2001.
