The 29-year-old man, whose identity was withheld, needed stitches after Bernstein allegedly struck him in the head during a confrontation at 10 p.m. Monday in the producer's Beverly Glen home, police Officer Guillermo Campos said Tuesday.

``What went on at the house had to do with the protection and safety of my only child, my 6-month-old daughter, Amber Leigh,'' Bernstein said in a telephone interview.

Bernstein said he could not comment further on the advice of his attorney.

Open council will discuss city budget

Man pours gasoline on himself and car

WOODLAND HILLS - A man apparently upset over a breakup with his girlfriend was taken to a county mental health center for observation Tuesday after he poured gasoline over himself and his dark blue late model Pontiac Firebird The Pontiac Firebird was a pony car built by the Pontiac division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002.

The Firebird was introduced in the same year with its platform sharing cousin the Chevrolet Camaro.

City urges vendors to work on parking

Immigrant women raped by smugglers

Two women were raped and a friend and relative were beaten in Canoga Park after they were unable to pay $1,200 immigrant smuggling smuggling, illegal transport across state or national boundaries of goods or persons liable to customs or to prohibition. Pepperdine names seventh president

MALIBU - Pepperdine University announced that Andrew K. Benton will become its seventh president on July 1, 2000.

Benton, a Malibu resident, replaces David Davenport, who announced his resignation from the presidency in March. Benton currently serves as executive vice president.
