BRIEFLY : HOLDEN CELEBRATES END OF SEX LAWSUIT.

Panel OKs request for cultural center

The state's Budget Conference Committee has approved a request by Assemblyman Tony Cardenas Tony Cardenas served in the California State Assembly. He is now a Los Angeles City Councilman, representing the 6th district, which includes parts of the San Fernando Valley. , D-Panorama City, for $500,000 to establish a cultural arts center in the Northeast San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

The plan is to renovate a building to accommodate a theater, coffee shop and art gallery. A site has not been chosen, but several options near the San Fernando Mission are under consideration.

The request is part of the state budget, which has not yet been approved.

Snowboarders get probation in case

GLENDALE - Two snowboarders convicted of going out of bounds at a ski resort were sentenced Friday to probation and fined $405 each.

Glendale Municipal Court Judge Barbara Burke scheduled an Aug. 11 hearing to determine whether Patrick Jenks and Claudio Maluje must also reimburse authorities for the cost of an extensive search that was launched after the pair disappeared from a ski resort Feb. 22.

On July 2, a Municipal Court jury found Jenks, 23, of Glendale, and Maluje, 28, of North Hollywood, guilty of one count of skiing out of bounds each.

They could have faced up to six months in jail.

Photographer says attack ruined him

A celebrity photographer told a jury Friday that an altercation with Alec Baldwin outside the actor's Woodland Hills home in 1995 left him unable to do his job, and his yearly income dipped about $200,000.

 Alan Zanger told the Van Nuys Superior Court panelists hearing dueling lawsuits between the photographer and Baldwin. ``I'm apprehensive every time I do something. I can't do my work like I used to.''

Baldwin confronted Zanger Oct. 26 that year.

The photographer was behind the tinted windows of a camper shell on the back of his red Dodge pickup truck, staking out Baldwin's house as he and actress Kim Basinger brought their newborn daughter, Ireland, home.

Tarzana group will install new officers

The 1998-99 officers for the Tarzana Property Owners Association will be installed Sunday.

The new officers are Helen Itria Norman, president; Leonard Shaffer, first vice president; Irma Dobbyn, second vice president; Kathy Delle Donne, treasurer; and Elizabeth Tigar, secretary.

Expected guests include Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski, 11th District; Councilwoman Laura Chick, 3rd District; Rob Glushon, elected charter reform commissioner; and Dale Jacobs, president of the Tarzana Chamber of Commerce.
