Border arrests tied to Westlake crimes

SAN YSIDRO - Two teen-agers suspected of breaking into two Westlake Village homes and stealing a car were taken into custody by U.S. Customs officers as they tried to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities said.

The boy and girl, both 16, were trying to walk into Mexico on Friday afternoon when they were stopped by Customs agents, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County sheriff's Lt. Firecracker play injures 7-year-old

A 7-year-old boy was in good condition Saturday after losing part of a finger while playing with a firecracker, an L.A. city Fire Department spokesman said.

The boy lost the tip of his middle finger on his right hand about 7:15 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of East 79th Street, Brian Humphrey said.
