Formerly a farm community, it prospered with the completion of the Los Angeles aquaduct in 1914. - The condition of a 33-year-old man struck by a semitrailer truck while crossing Palmdale Boulevard on Wednesday evening has improved to fair condition, sheriff's officials said Friday. Charles Simms of Palmdale was airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills after he was struck near 5th Street East shortly after 8 p.m., sheriff's officials said. Simms was crossing Palmdale Boulevard southbound when he was struck by Clifford Garrison, 53, of Tacoma, Wash., who was driving westbound on Palmdale Boulevard. - Daily News |
