Martina Hingis Martina Hingis (pronounced: hɪŋˈɡɪs) (born September 30, 1980 in Košice, Slovakia) is a former World No. 1 Swiss tennis player.  beat Corina Morariu Corina Marie Morariu (born January 26, 1978 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American female professional tennis player of Romanian heritage.

Morariu (pronounced: mo-RAR-yoo) turned professional in 1994.
