Frantic parents called the school seeking information after the incident, originally reported as a shooting death because the victim was bleeding from the head, a campus administrator said.

Closer inspection indicated the man had fallen, hitting his head. Construction workers at the site, north of the dead end of Smyth Drive, told sheriff's deputies that the security guard, who was living in his van at the site, had been feeling poorly the previous day.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's Office is seeking paid clerks and inspectors to staff polling places throughout the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. .

Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are registered to vote. Clerks will be paid $45 to work from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with two 45-minute breaks. Inspectors must attend a training class and will be paid $60 to work from 6:30 a.m. to closing and then deliver the ballots to the local checking center.
