 to explore formally the creation of a Greater San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.

As currently envisioned, the zone, if established, would take over control of 27 MTA bus lines by January 2000. The intent is to provide cleaner buses and more efficient service.

In addition to the county, the cities considering participation in the zone are Agoura Hills, Burbank, Calabasas, Glendale, Hidden Hills, La Canada Flintridge, Los Angeles, San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina

City agrees to sell Pacoima retail site

The Los Angeles City Council The Los Angeles City Council is the governing body of the City of Los Angeles, California, United States.  voted Wednesday to sell the Pacoima Plaza Shopping Center at 11220 Glenoaks Blvd. to a developer, raising $2.67 million to be put back into economic development programs.

As part of a program to spur economic development, the city was leasing the land to the developers of the site, who finally agreed to buy the property, according to Councilman Richard Alarcon, whose district includes the property.

Zoning change OK'd for home developer

The Los Angeles City Council approved a zone change Wednesday allowing about 400 single-family homes to be built in the vicinity of the 20100 block of Sesnon Boulevard.

The homes are to be built by the Porter Ranch Development Company.

The zone change reduces the size of some of the lots from a half-acre to 11,000 square feet as just one phase of the massive Porter Ranch development in the northwest San Fernando Valley, said Phyllis Winger, an aide to Councilman Hal Bernson.

Health, cultural fair scheduled Nov. 14

PACOIMA - The Asian Pacific Islander Council of the San Fernando Valley will host its Seventh Annual Asian Pacific Family Health and Cultural Day on Nov. 14.

The health fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center in Pacoima, located at 12953 Branford St.

Screenings for breast cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure and other ailments will be offered free of charge.

The day will also feature cultural entertainment, children's activities and ethnic cuisine.

SANTA ANA - A California Highway Patrol officer has sued a motorist who filed a misconduct complaint against the officer.

 Officer Donovan Walker arrested Bill John Kiousis for investigation of drunk driving.

Kiousis eventually filed a complaint accusing the officer of forcing him to take a blood test and threatening to kick him, but a tape recorder Walker was wearing during the arrest exonerated him and the CHP dismissed the complaint, the suit says.

Frozen dogs found in Glendale garage

GLENDALE - A man searching for food in his ex-girlfriend's rented garage found about a dozen frozen dogs whose sperm he claims was extracted for championship breeding, police said Wednesday.

A 55-year-old woman kicked the ex-boyfriend out of their Los Angeles home at gunpoint following an argument Monday night, police said. So he drove to the garage she rents in Glendale to look for food, investigators said.

When he opened a freezer inside the garage, he found about a dozen male Lhasa apso Lhasa apso (lä`sə ăp`sō), breed of small, alert nonsporting dog developed in Tibet many centuries ago. It stands about 11 in. (27.9 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 13 to 15 lb (5.9–6.8 kg). , Maltese and mongrels.

The woman, whose name was withheld, has been on probation for a cruelty to animals cruelty to animals n. the crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death on an animal, usually a tame one, beyond necessity for normal discipline. It can include neglect that is so monstrous (withholding food and water) that the animal has suffered, died or  conviction in neighboring Burbank, police said.
