``It looks like the driver feel asleep, drifted off the right side of the roadway before Hampshire and went airborne 50 feet and landed down on Hampshire on the westbound lane,'' Myers said.

From there, the 1989 Cadillac Coupe de Ville slid through a guard rail, where it came to a stop, he said.

``These people are lucky to be alive,'' Myers said. He said everyone was wearing a seat belt.

18-year-old arrested in rash of burglaries

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday at his home in the 2200 block of Callahan Avenue on suspicion of burglary, police said.

Frederick Santos Pichel was booked at Ventura County jail, police said. A 16-year-old juvenile also was arrested but later released pending further investigation.

For the past two months, 16 daytime residential burglaries have occurred in neighborhoods between Madera and Erringer roads, police said. Property taken in the burglaries was primarily in the form of jewelry, cash, electronic items and guns, police said.

A week ago, police were able to link Pichel to at least one of those break-ins and obtained a search warrant for the homes of the suspect and the juvenile.

Police found goods at Pichel's residence suspected to be stolen from the burglaries, but did not find any at the juvenile's home.

Motorist succumbs to collision injuries

THOUSAND OAKS - A Thousand Oaks man died Thursday, more than a week after sustaining head injuries in a rush-hour traffic crash on the southbound Moorpark Freeway, coroner's officials said.

Craig Tucker, 38, had been undergoing treatment for his injuries since June 14 at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was taken after the morning crash.

Host homes needed for foreign students

MOORPARK - A group of foreign students coming to study American life for one month need host homes in the Simi Valley and Moorpark area, according to a nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools.
 assisting with the trip.

Educational Homestay Programs is asking for families, couples and single people over 25 years of age to open their homes to the high school students, who arrive on July 5.
