BRIEFLY : FORMER PARK WORKER HELD IN MONEY THEFT.


VALENCIA - A former Magic Mountain employee was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing a money bag from a cashier at the Valencia theme park, authorities said.

Sheriff's officials said Juanelle Billingsley, 21, of Lancaster confronted the unidentified employee, snatched a money bag containing approximately $11,000 and ran away.

Sheriff's deputies, aided by park security guards, captured the man shortly after the 8:55 p.m. incident.

Authorities said Billingsley is a former security guard at the park.

He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  today in Newhall Municipal Court.

3rd suspect arrested for parking lot death

VALENCIA - Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  homicide detectives Thursday announced the arrest of a third suspect in a fatal shooting earlier this year in the parking lot of Magic Mountain.

Los Angeles resident Jamika Cansan was arrested Thursday by members of the North Regional Surveillance and Apprehension Team, said Deputy Ed Bailey

     in the April 9 shooting that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Danny Vega. Officials said Cansan is believed to have provided the weapon used in the shooting.

    Authorities said Cansan and two men, who were later arrested, opened fire from a dark-colored Buick Regal and a gray 1995 Ford Taurus.

    Two other bystanders were injured during the shooting.

    Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Tim Peters said the young boy was walking home from a school activity when a man, described as 30 to 40 years old and 280 to 300 pounds, drove by several times giving a thumbs-up sign.

    ``The suspect then pulled up next to the victim and said, get in. The victim kept walking, and the suspect drove up again and forcefully said, get in,'' Peters said.

    The youngster ran away and reported the confrontation.
