Man crossing 101 killed by vehicles

A 39-year-old Los Angeles man was hit and killed by two vehicles Friday as he attempted to cross the Hollywood Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday when a van and sedan plowed into the pedestrian, who was walking across the southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway at Hollywood Boulevard, Officer Bob Granieri said. The drivers of the two vehicles were uninjured and pulled off the freeway to call law enforcement officials.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of relatives, Granieri said.
