Famous character of Walt Disney's animated cartoons. He was introduced in Steamboat Willie (1928), the first animated cartoon with sound. Mickey was created by Disney, who also provided his high-pitched voice, and was usually drawn by the studio's head animator,

Another hearing was scheduled for Friday to set a trial date, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Weiss Jack Weiss, is a member of the Los Angeles City Council representing the 5th district. Weiss was elected in 2001 and reelected in 2005. The 5th district includes parts of the Westside and the San Fernando Valley.  said.

Whitewater figure's hearing postponed

A Los Angeles City Council The Los Angeles City Council is the governing body of the City of Los Angeles, California, United States.  panel has postponed indefinitely a hearing into Whitewater figure Webster Hubbell's lobbying work for the city.

Councilwoman Ruth Galanter Ruth Galanter was a city councilwoman from Los Angeles. She served as President Pro-Tempore and President of the city council.  said key witnesses were unable to attend a hearing scheduled for today by the council's Commerce Energy and Natural Resources Committee so the session will be held instead in February.

Galanter said the ``significant issues'' raised by the Hubbell contract ``merit the public's full attention free from the distractions of the holiday season.''

$25,000 reward stands in '91 case

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police said Monday that a $25,000 reward still stands in the 5-year-old mystery of what happened to the five occupants of a catering truck in North Hollywood.

Three men and two boys were last seen inside the catering truck parked near Lankershim Boulevard and Vanowen Street in North Hollywood at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, 1991, Detective Michael Mejia said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Mejia at (213) 485-2129 or (213) 485-3261, evenings and weekends.

Council to meet at convenient time

Members of the Los Angeles City Council this week will hold a night meeting away from City Hall to make the meeting more available to working people.

The council's Wednesday meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center, 2551 Motor Ave., West Los Angeles

Under a recommendation from council President John Ferraro, the council plans to hold at least one meeting a month away from City Hall. The night meeting was suggested as a way to deal with criticism that working people are unable to attend the sessions.

Highway patrol collecting toys

WOODLAND HILLS - Officers from the California Highway Patrol's West Valley office, as part of the annual CHP's for Kids toy drive, are collecting donations at their office.

And starting Saturday, donations of new, unwrapped toys can be made at a booth at the Northridge Fashion Center Northridge Fashion Center is a large shopping mall located in Northridge, California. Grass-roots group to hold open house

Pacoima Urban Village will have an open house Dec. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. to celebrate the relocation of its offices to the Van Nuys Pierce Apartments at 12700 Van Nuys Blvd., Unit 287, in Pacoima.

Pacoima Urban Village, a grass-roots community organization dedicated to creating self-reliance among residents, provides free medical care, child-care training, food distribution, youth drama classes and job and economic development programs.

In addition to an award presentation for those who have contributed to the development of Pacoima Urban Village, there will be music, dance performances and a community drama workshop held by actor-director Hector Aristizabol.
