He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

SOAR author set to talk at meeting

THOUSAND OAKS - Richard Francis Richard Francis (dates unknown) was a famous English cricketer who played for the Hambledon Club.

Francis is known to have been a Surrey man by birth and he had played for Surrey teams before moving to Hampshire. He made 47 known first-class appearances from 1773 until 1793.
, who penned the successful countywide SOAR initiative, will speak at 7 p.m. today at the Grant R. Brimhall Library The Grant R. Brimhall Library serves as the main Thousand Oaks Library building. It is controlled by the Thousand Oaks Library System, which also controls the Newbury Park Branch Library. The Grant R. Brimhall Building is located on Janss Rd. near State Route 23. , 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

The talk is sponsored by the Hill Canyon Preservation Coalition, which is trying to stop the development of an 18-hole golf course at the site and keep it in its natural state.

Bruce MacDonald, leader of the coalition, said group members wanted to know how SOAR applies to Hill Canyon - 75 acres of prime agricultural land that would be used for the golf course.

Baseball jerseys stolen in Camarillo

CAMARILLO - Four young men stole several baseball jerseys from Just Sports on East Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S.  in Camarillo, then fled in a stolen car, officials said Wednesday.

The store manager witnessed the theft about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and followed the men outside, where he was confronted by one of the four, brandishing a knife, authorities said. The four then drove away in a white Buick Regal.

California Highway Patrol officers from Ventura saw the vehicle a short time later and began a pursuit. The men abandoned the vehicle - which had been reported stolen in Kern County - near Halcon and Santa Lucia streets.

One suspect is described as a Latino in his 20s, about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a slender build, a shaved head and a goatee. Another is also Latino, 19 or 20 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds in weight, with short black hair, a goatee and numerous scars on his face. Descriptions were not given for the other two men.

Presidential library executive to resign

SIMI VALLEY - The executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Coordinates:

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Center for Public Affairs
 and Museum said Wednesday that he plans to resign to pursue another venture out of state.

Mark Hunt, who has served more than three years as the fourth person to hold the director's job, would not discuss details of his plans and has not yet set the date for his departure from the museum.

``It has been my pleasure to become part of the community here within Moorpark, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks,'' said Hunt, who has been active in local clubs and organizations. ``It's important for the museum to be in touch with the local constituency.''

A Kansas native, he previously worked at the national museum of the Boy Scouts of America Noun 1. Boy Scouts of America - a corporation that operates through a national council that charters local councils all over the United States; the purpose is character building and citizenship training  in Kentucky and as director of the Kansas Museum of History.
