BRIEFLY : DEMOCRAT DROPS OUT OF RUN FOR CONGRESS.


SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Local attorney Dan Gonzalez has dropped out of the race for Rep. Elton Gallegly's congressional seat, putting his full support behind another Democratic challenger.

Gonzalez, president of the Simi Valley Democratic Club, said Thursday that he is confident that challenger Michael Case, an attorney, will win the 23rd Congressional District Noun 1. congressional district - a territorial division of a state; entitled to elect one member to the United States House of Representatives

 in 2000.

Gonzalez declined to elaborate on his decision but said that since he will be out of the race, the Democratic Party can concentrate its efforts.

``Someone who will probably be very well-funded, as Mr. Case should be, should be able to have a victory and result in a Democratic representative in this district, which is predominantly pre·dom·i·nant

Peach Tree school principal selected

MOORPARK - A teacher with 38 years of education experience has been appointed the new principal of Peach Hill elementary school elementary school: see school. .

The school board voted unanimously to appoint Marilyn Eubanks to the post on the recommendation of Superintendent Tom Duffy, said school board President David Pollock.

``She has a reputation for being very responsive to parents and very firm but fair with students,'' Pollock said.

Eubanks has been assistant principal at Mesa Verde Middle School for the past five years, and previously was at Chaparral Middle School Chaparral Middle School could refer to
