PALMDALE - Homes and neighborhoods in Palmdale can enter the annual holiday lighting contest run by the city of Palmdale's Public Safety Office.

Entries must be delivered to City Hall, 38300 Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling , by 5 p.m. Thursday or postmarked by that day. Entries should be marked ``Public Safety Office - Wende Protzman.'' Entry forms can be obtained by calling the Public Safety Office at (805) 267-5170. There is no fee to enter.

Categories are most colorful home, most animated home, most traditional home and best neighborhood (five or more houses). Judging will take place 6 to 11:30 p.m. Friday or Dec. 12. Winners will be announced the week of Dec. 14.

Man killed in crash on forest highway

A.V. Hospital plans season blood drive

LANCASTER - Antelope Valley Hospital will hold its annual blood drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday in an effort to offset the blood shortage that occurs during the holiday season.

The holiday season brings an unusually high number of accidents and injuries, which generally causes a critical blood shortage with an increased demand.
