Asian Boyz member gets life sentences

VAN NUYS - One of seven Asian Boyz gang members convicted in a five-month killing spree was sentenced Friday to 45 years to life in prison, plus six additional life sentences with possibility of parole.

David Evangelista, 24, must serve at least 15 years on each of the consecutive sentences.

The former A student and hospital volunteer was convicted of one count of murder, six attempted murders and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Evangelista and his cohorts went on a rampage in 1995 that left seven people dead.

He was ineligible for the death penalty because jurors deadlocked on a second murder charge against him, making a ``special circumstance'' allegation of multiple murders untrue.
