BRIEFLY : CURBSIDE RECYCLING GETS SIMPLER IN SIMI.


SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Residents who take advantage of curbside recycling will have it a bit easier now, as the city revises its restrictions to allow mixing of recyclables into one container.

Officials said residents no longer must separate paper products from glass, plastic and metal items. However, yard and other green waste must still be disposed of separately.

Recyclables include newspapers, cardboard, brown paper bags, telephone books, magazines, junk mail See spam and junk faxes. , mixed paper, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and jars, tin, steel, aluminum cans, polystyrene plastic and empty paint cans.

Oxnard man, 26,killed on motorbike

OXNARD - A 26-year-old Oxnard motorcyclist was killed Friday and his passenger was seriously injured when the motorcycle slammed head-on into a van.

Jessie John Cedillos died of head injuries in the 6:17 a.m. crash, authorities said. His passenger, 24-year-old Oxnard resident Emilio Alamillo, suffered head injuries and a broken arm.

Cedillos was driving southbound on Rose Avenue when he hit a 1995 Dodge Ram

The Ram is a full-size pickup truck from Chrysler LLC's Dodge brand. The name was first used in 1981 on the redesigned Ram and Power Ram, though it came from the hood ornament used on
 driven by Santiago Duarte, 56, of Oxnard, who was turning left from northbound Rose onto Wooley Road.

Neither Duarte nor his passenger, 74-year-old Oxnard resident Pablo Bernal, were injured, police said. There is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, police said.

Bridge collapse closes roadway

BUELLTON - A temporary bridge collapsed on Highway 246, blocking a key route between Lompoc and Buellton.
