BRIEFLY : CSUN TO OFFER LOCAL KOREAN IMMERSION.


NORTHRIDGE - California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , students will not have to leave the Southland to be immersed in Korean culture, thanks to a new program on campus.

Students in the semesterlong ``Study Abroad in Los Angeles Project: Korea'' will spend weekends with local Korean families and will take Korean language classes, according to the university.

They will also study Korean-American issues and take classes in Asian-American studies.

The program's founders hope to provide ``the same experiences students would have when traveling to a different country,'' according to a CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  statement.

Future programs could include projects with Armenian, Chinese and Iranian cultures.

A reception exhibit will be held from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in room 113 of the Studio Theatre and Speech Drama building.
