BRIEFLY : COURT DEPUTY PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO THEFTS.


A Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County sheriff's deputy pleaded not guilty Monday to charges that he stole laptop computers and resold them at computer fairs.

Olivas was held in lieu of $15,000 bail and was placed on administrative leave pending an outcome of the case. Sheriff's investigators arrested Olivas on Feb. 9.

Four Coca-Cola delivery truck drivers were charged Monday with stealing nearly $57,000 worth of the company's soft drinks.

The City Attorney's Office based its case on results of an undercover probe carried out by a private investigator for the company, said spokesman Mike Qualls.

Jogger sentenced for galloping nude

Chais said Swearington has previous convictions for indecent exposure and lewd conduct.

Attorney files suit in suspect's killing

Attorney Stephen Yagman filed suit Monday against the city of Los Angeles

The suit claims that officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Special Investigations Section followed Eric Fields and three other suspects from a holdup at a Northridge bar.

Police say they shot the occupants of the getaway car after one pointed a gun at officers when they were trapped at the end of the chase in a cul-de-sac.
