BRIEFLY : COUNCIL DISCUSSES EXTENDED ELECTIONS.

Concerned about the low voter turnout in this month's election, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  city officials are considering staging weekend-long elections to make it easier for people to vote.

The suggestion came up Tuesday at the council's Rules and Elections Committee. Councilman Mike Feuer liked the idea of a weekend election because people would not have to leave work to vote.

``I think we should do anything we can to enhance participation by the voting public,'' Feuer said.

Officials from the Chief Legislative Analyst's Office suggested an election on a Saturday might be more convenient, but Feuer said any weekend election would have to be held over both days because Saturday is a religious day for some people and Sunday is a religious day for others.
