SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Police and firefighters worked for more than an hour to free four people from their vehicles after a midnight crash Friday, fire dispatchers said.

Vilma Zita, 28, of Simi Valley was driving east on Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Avenue when she collided with a westbound pickup truck driven by Sonia Reed, 38, also of Simi Valley, officials said.

Reed was making a left turn onto Church Street when the crash occurred, police said.

Both cars carried passengers, and both drivers were seriously injured and taken to local hospitals, officials said.

Victims in Camarillo and Oxnard had reported similar crimes since November, Kelley said. Melilli was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and was being held at the Ventura County Jail.
