The University's mission statement is as follows:

"California Lutheran University is a diverse, scholarly community dedicated to excellence in the liberal arts and professional studies.
 student was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault and rape in an attack on a 17-year-old Thousand Oaks girl.

Alejandro Castanada of Wilmington is accused of raping the girl on campus the night of Oct. 15.

A two-week investigation by Thousand Oaks detectives, with the cooperation of university officials, resulted in Castanada's arrest. No other incidents have been reported.

Castanada was jailed at the Simi Valley Police Department The Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) is the police department of the city of Simi Valley, California. The department currently has over 120 sworn officers, and more than 65 support personnel[1]. The department has a patrol area that covers over 39 square miles.  in lieu of Instead of; in place of; in substitution of. It does not mean in addition to.  $100,000 bail, officials said.
