BRIEFLY : CITY OFFERING REWARD IN SYNAGOGUE FIRES.


Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  city officials announced Monday the offering of a $20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever set fires that damaged two Westside synagogues.

City Councilman Michael Feuer Michael Feuer (1958-)[1] is a Californian politician and lawyer. He now represents the 42nd Assembly District which includes Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and part of Los Angeles in the California State Assembly. He was elected in 2006 on the Democratic ticket.  and Fire Chief William Bamattre offered the reward in hopes of solving arson cases involving several fires set Dec. 28 at Congregation Shaarei Tefila and Congregation Kehilas Yaakov, both of which are on West Beverly Boulevard Beverly Boulevard is one of the main east-west thoroughfares in Los Angeles. It begins off of Santa Monica Boulevard in the Beverly Hills and West Hollywood border and ends on Lucas Avenue near Downtown Los Angeles. .

``The desecration of synagogues is absolutely intolerable,'' Feuer said.

Investigators are working on the theory that the synagogue fires are the work of a transient, and officers are trying to match fingerprints found at the crime scene with fingerprints being taken voluntarily from transients in the area, according to according to
