Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown. - Thousand Oaks and its Police Department will hold citizens emergency response training courses for the next six weeks for residents interested in joining the Disaster Assistance Response Team United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) Office of United States Foreign Disaster Assistance provides this rapidly deployable team in response to international disasters. . Residents are invited to attend the Thursday night sessions to be conducted by the Ventura County Fire Department Not to be confused with Ventura Fire Department. The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) provides fire protection and emergency response services for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, and for six other cities within the county. . The first session will run 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the board room at the Civic Arts Plaza. The six-week program is required for residents interested in joining DART, a citizens group that trains to be prepared for emergencies - from searching for lost children to assisting fire officials and police during earthquakes, fires, floods or other emergencies. Three weeks of additional training and a personal history statement for those ages 18 and over must also be completed to join DART.
