The truck crashed into a light standard on the east side of De Soto Avenue, she said.

Sandi Terese Loeffler, 38, was hit while crossing Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Addison Street at 10 p.m.

Detective Lydia Macias of the Valley Traffic Division said that one motorist, believed to have hit Loeffler first, stopped and remained at the scene. A second motorist, ran over the downed woman, and drove off.

Macias said that motorist was possibly driving a Jeep with a soft top. ``If there are people out there, maybe they don't realize they ran over a body,'' Macias said. ``At this point, we just want them for questioning.''

Graffiti-vandalism suspect arrested

VAN NUYS - Police arrested a Van Nuys man they said is responsible for $14,000 in damage related to graffiti vandalism over the past year, authorities said Friday.

Jason Beck, 18, is suspected of committing 63 acts of vandalism by scrawling his tag moniker (1) A name, title or alias. See alias.

Man to stand trial in ambush shooting

A defendant who allegedly opened fire on a Van Nuys man following a parking space dispute, was ordered to stand trial on murder charges Friday.

London Lee Washington, 19, of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  is charged with murder and the special circumstance of lying in wait - an allegation that carries a sentence of life in prison or the death penalty.

Prosecutor Steve Ipsen said his office has not yet decided whether to ask for the death penalty.

The case stems from the May 1996 shooting of 30-year-old Stacey Foster, who yelled at Washington for taking the parking space for his apartment.

After moving his car for Foster, Washington allegedly waited in ambush. Foster, suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg and back, identified Washington in a photo lineup A presentation of photographs to a victim or witness of a crime.

Jerusalem tribute planned for Sunday

WEST HILLS - The West Valley Jewish Community Center has set a Sunday celebration to commemorate the 3,000th anniversary of Jerusalem at the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus, 22622 Vanowen St.

A variety of exhibits and events are planned from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

In addition, the original biblical rock opera, ``The Seventh Son,'' will be presented at 2:30 p.m. Advance ticket prices are $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Tickets at the door are $12.

Simpson custody hearing to continue

A decision on who would get custody of O.J. Simpson's two minor children was delayed Friday and the hearing will continue next week, an attorney said.

Saul Gelbart, speaking on behalf of Lou and Juditha Brown, said, ``The matter is not over. There has been no decision. . . . There is probably going to be more testimony and more hearings.''
