The veteran firefighters were injured as they battled a blaze that engulfed the top two floors of the Electric Emporium on Friday, said city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey.

It took more than 100 firefighters about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control. Three other firefighters were less seriously injured.

Investigators were looking into the cause but believe it was suspicious in nature, Humphrey said. Damage was estimated at $1.95 million.
