NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A 4-year-old boy was in serious condition with head injuries and a broken leg Friday night after he was apparently hit by a car, fire officials said.

Paramedics were called at 8:25 p.m. to an apartment in the 11900 block of Hart Street, where the injured boy had been taken after the incident.

The 911 caller said the boy had been injured in a fall, but when paramedics arrived they were told the boy had been hit by a car, then that he was not only run over, but that the car also backed up over him, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  city Fire Department.

The boy was airlifted with his uncle to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Humphrey said. He was in serious but stable condition.

Authorities identify victim in car plunge

MALIBU - A man who was killed after his car plunged hundreds of feet down an embankment was identified Friday as a 32-year-old North Hollywood resident, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives who were out of the country, was driving about 35 mph by himself on Piuma Road, just east of Costa Del Sol Costa del Sol (kō`stä thĕl sōl`), a strip of coastline, S. In-the-shell oysters taken from Galveston Bay after May 27 have been recalled, and the bay has been closed to harvesting since June 26.

About 120,000 pounds of possibly tainted oysters were shipped to California, primarily to retailers in Southern California and in San Francisco, Santa Clara, Merced and San Joaquin counties. Health officials have contacted most oyster retailers in California.

Three in car injured in off-ramp crash

At least three people, including one who was temporarily trapped in the wreckage, were injured in a single-vehicle crash on a freeway off-ramp near Griffith Park on Friday, authorities said.

The crash happened about noon on the Victory Boulevard off-ramp of the eastbound Ventura Freeway, said Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is the agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Los Angeles.  spokesman Brian Humphrey.

At least two victims were taken to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, Humphrey said, and one was brought to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
