GLENDALE - An Arizona State basketball player was critically injured when his car crashed into a shoe store in Glendale early Saturday, police said.

Okeme Oziwo crashed his white sedan into Sorrentinos Shoe store, 208 S. Glendale Ave., near Harvard Street at 4:20 a.m., said Glendale police Sgt. Bruce Fox.

The Fire Department used special equipment to get the man out of the mangled vehicle, he said.

Pilot towing banner rescued after crash

Intruders shoot, kill Lakewood dad

LAKEWOOD - Four juveniles forced their way into a Lakewood home Saturday, and a man was shot to death as his 2 -1/2-month-old daughter looked on from her high chair, Sheriff's Department officials said.

The suspects entered 34-year-old Juan Panuco's town house in the 20700 block of Seine Avenue at about 9:35 a.m., sheriff's Sgt. Gilbert Anderson said. Panuco's wife was not home during the shooting, he said.

Police units search for missing girl, 5

Police scoured a Burbank neighborhood Saturday in search of a missing 5-year-old girl who disappeared after jumping out of a swimming pool and fleeing over a wall.

Katarina Kovacs was swimming in a backyard pool at 3:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of California Street when she suddenly jumped out of the water and fled over a 4-foot-high wall, Lt. Edward B.
