``We're doing this because we have too many students and too little money,'' CSUN President Blenda Wilson said in a prepared statement.

Had the campus left enrollment open, projections showed CSUN's 1996-97 enrollments hitting 19,200 full-time equivalent students, nearly 3 percent over the university's target of 18,680.

The city of Los Angeles
For the city, see Los Angeles, California.
The City of Los Angeles was a streamlined passenger train jointly operated by the Chicago and North Western Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad.
is offering discounted compost bins to Los Angeles city residents at a special one-day sale Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Earth Machine, a compost bin that normally sells for $90, will be sold for $20. This compost bin converts leaves, grass, table scraps and other yard waste into a rich garden soil amendment in just weeks.

The Earth Machine is designed so that effort is minimized and turning of the compost is not required. The city expects to sell up to 3,000 bins at this one event.

Interested residents should bring a driver's license and Department of Water and Power bill to purchase a bin. The sale, conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, will take place at the Federal Building, 11000 Wilshire Blvd., Westwood.
