Valencia (välān`thēä), autonomous region (1990 pop. 3,902,429) and former kingdom, E Spain, on the Mediterranean. It now comprises the provinces of Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia.
 - Young authors and artists from the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  are invited to display their creative efforts in a noncompetitive Adj. 1. noncompetitive - not involving competition or competitiveness; "noncompetitive positions"; "noncompetitive interest in games"
competitive, competitory - involving competition or competitiveness; "competitive games"; "to improve one's competitive position"
 literary and artistic exhibit at the Valencia Library. The display will feature original works including stories, poems, prose, cartoon cartoon [Ital., cartone=paper], either of two types of drawings: in the fine arts, a preliminary sketch for a more complete work; in journalism, a humorous or satirical drawing.  storyboards, and two- and three-dimensional fine art with commentaries. School projects or entries from ``Reflections'' competitions are welcome.

Participants can receive helpful tips on how to win competitions and how to get work published. Certificates of recognition will be awarded to each participant.

The artwork will be on display from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 4. The deadline to enter is Dec. 2. Contact the exhibit coordinators, Young at Art, at (661) 297-2957.
