BRIEFLY : ALEX THEATER HOSTS SPRING ART FESTIVAL.


GLENDALE - The second annual Spring Art Festival will be held tonight at the Alex Theater, featuring musical and dramatic performances by local students.

The event is sponsored by the office of 21st District state Sen. Adam Schiff

Adam B. Schiff (born June 20 1960) is an American politician. He first served in the California State Senate.
, D-Pasadena. Schiff will give an update at the event about legislative efforts to enhance arts and education at local schools.

The free show runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and will include performances by:

Providencia Elementary School elementary school: see school.  in Burbank, with excerpts from the rock opera ``Three Nanny Goats Gruff'';

The Glendale High School Glendale High School can refer to:
  • Glendale High School (Glendale, Arizona)
  • Glendale High School (Glendale, California)

Council to consider RV-parking codes

LA CRESCENTA - The Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  Town Council will hold a community meeting tonight to discuss whether residents should be allowed to park recreational vehicles in front of their homes.

It will be the first of three local forums on the topic.

About a month ago, 23 residents received notices from the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Regional Planning regional planning: see city planning.  Department warning they were violating county codes because they had parked trailers, RVs, campers or boats in front of their property. Under county law, residents cannot place such vehicles within the first 20 feet from the road or anywhere directly in front of their homes.

Furious residents complained to the Town Council, and the county agreed to suspend enforcement.

The council may be able to get the law revoked in unincorporated La Crescenta and Montrose by adopting new rules as part of its community plan.

The meeting will be held in the community service room at the Crescenta Valley sheriff's station at 4554 Briggs Ave. in La Crescenta. For more information, call (818) 248-9387.

Teen enters plea in student's death

PASADENA - A Glendale teen-ager accused of fatally shooting a Hoover High School Hoover High School may refer to any of the following:

  • Hoover High School, Glendale, CA
 student pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges Wednesday during his arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  in Pasadena Superior Court.

Artiom Badalyan, 18, a former Allan Daily High School student, is charged with the murder of Avetis ``Avo'' Demirchyan, a 15-year-old Hoover student gunned down Sept. 10, 1998, during a fight between two groups of students. Demirchyan was shot in the stomach during the fight just off Hoover's campus on School Street.

Prosecutors and police have said the shooting was unintentional.

Pasadena Superior Court Judge Joseph De Vanon set Badalyan's next court date for June 16. He set the teen's trial for July 9.

Badalyan is being held at Los Angeles County Jail on $1 million bail.
