BRIEFLY : ADAMS SQUARE SET FOR DAYLONG A-FAIRE.


GLENDALE - The city of Glendale and the Friends of Historic Adams Square will host the Adams Square A-faire on Saturday to celebrate the revitalization and history of the Adams Square neighborhood.

The fair will showcase live music, art exhibits, historical photo displays and ethnic foods. There will be face painting and balloons for kids, plus a variety of other activities.

The street fair will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the intersection of Chevy Chase Chevy Chase (chĕv`ē), town (1990 pop. 8,559), Montgomery co., W central Md., a residential suburb of Washington, D.C.; founded as a village, inc. 1914.  Drive and Adams Street.

Food certification classes scheduled

GLENDALE - Glendale Community College Glendale Community College can refer to one of two colleges in the United States.

 is offering an eight-hour certification course and exam in food preparation to meet new state and county requirements.

Summer reading available in Burbank

BURBANK - The Institute of Reading Development offers summer reading enrichment programs, including speed reading for adults, through the Burbank Park and Recreation Department.

Classes are offered for age 4 and older. Classes for 4 and 5 year olds are $159. All other reading programs are $239.

Summer camp start on tap for Monday

LA CRESCENTA - ``Hello Summer Camp'' will start for local youngsters Monday at Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  Park.

The camp will offer a variety of activities, including games, sports, crafts and field trips for children ages 5 through 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Fees for the summer are $45 per week.

Police seeking clues in student's death

A $10,000 reward was offered Thursday for information leading to the conviction of the gunman who killed a 20-year-old psychology student in Echo Park earlier this month, police said.

Teresa Del Rio Del Rio (rē`ō), city (1990 pop. 30,705), seat of Val Verde co., W Tex., on the Rio Grande opposite Ciudad Acuña, Mexico; founded 1868, inc. 1911. , a student at Glendale Community College, was in her car making a U-turn in the 600 block of Commonwealth Avenue when she was shot just before midnight June 6.

She died a short time later, said Los Angeles police Officer Charlotte Broughton.
