LANCASTER - A movie theater employee was beaten and kicked before she managed to escape screaming from a man who attempted to abduct her after closing time, deputies said.

The 31-year-old woman was cleaning a theater inside the Movies 12 complex on Valley Central Way about 1:30 a.m. Monday when a man appeared from behind a wall, grabbed her by the neck and began walking her toward the exit.

She fought back and he hit her in the face, knocking her to the ground. Then he kicked her, she said.

She got up and fled through the entrance door, her screams alerting a co-worker. Both theater employees ran across the street to the Wal-Mart store to call the sheriff's station, officials said.

Sheriff's deputies searched the area but could not find the assailant.

Police seek gunmen in Lancaster robbery

LANCASTER - Sheriff's deputies are looking for two robbers who held up a man at gunpoint Saturday night as he knocked at a friend's apartment door.

The 32-year-old victim told deputies he was knocking on a door in the 44000 block of Engle Way about 6 p.m. when a man approached, asked him what time it was and then asked him who he was looking for.

Moments later, the man returned with a second man, pointed a gun at the victim and told him he was being robbed. The pair took money from the victim's wallet and fled through the apartment complex, deputies said.
