BRIEFLY : A FORMER COACH SUES NOTRE DAM.


Former Notre Dame assistant football coach Joe Moore sued new head coach Bob Davie and the university, alleging age discrimination and defamation.

Moore, 65, claims that on Dec. 2 Davie told him he was ``too old to coach.''

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, said Davie later defamed Moore in a team meeting by referring to his age.Moore was hired as the Irish offensive line coach in 1988 by former head coach Lou Holtz. Davie fired him after taking over for Holtz.

Zheng Haixia, a 6-foot-8 center who played for four Chinese Olympic teams, was the last selection, going to the Los Angeles Sparks The Los Angeles Sparks are a Women's National Basketball Association team based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1997, they are one of the 8 original WNBA teams and were one of the teams that participated in the league's inaugural game. .The WNBA will start play June 21 and continue for 10 weeks.
