BRIEFLY : 80-ACRE WILDFIRE BEATEN IN SYLMAR.


SYLMAR - Firefighters gained the upper hand on an 80-acre brush fire Tuesday night in Sylmar, officials said.

Economic alliance gains new partner

Crash leaves man dead, wife injured

LITTLEROCK - A 69-year-old Canoga Park man was killed Tuesday and his wife seriously injured in a fiery five-car pileup involving a tractor-trailer rig on Highway 138, authorities said.

Gennaro Delgatto of Canoga Park was airlifted from the scene of the 8:06 a.m. pileup, but died later at Antelope Valley Hospital, officials said. His wife, Rae Delgatto, 64, remains in serious condition.
