BRIEFLY : 2 WOMEN FOUND DEAD IN HOME.

BURBANK - A middle-age woman and her mother were found dead Thursday afternoon inside a home where they had been staying about 10 days, officials said.

Despite initial reports that at least one of the women in the home in the 2000 block of Brighton Street was found hanged, investigators wouldn't disclose whether they thought the deaths were the result of suicide or murder.

``It is still being handled as a death investigation. At this point, I can't really go into (details about) the condition of the bodies or the cause of death,'' said Lt. Larry Koch Koch , Robert 1843-1910.

The names of the 66-year-old woman and her 42-year-old daughter were withheld pending notification of relatives in Japan.

Both were natives of Japan who had lived in this country about 10 years, Koch said. Neighbors said they had moved into the Burbank home a little more than a week ago.

A friend of the landlord discovered the bodies about 2:30 p.m.
