ACTON - Two Sylmar brothers were injured early Tuesday when their car overturned on the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. , officials said.

Luis Gonzalez, 33, was driving a 1987 Toyota Tercel north on the freeway as his 18-year-old brother slept about 5:30 a.m. when the car veered into the dirt median, hit a berm berm: see beach.  and overturned, a California Highway Patrol official said.

The brothers were flown by helicopter to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a hospital in Mission Hills, California, USA. L.A. County backs trail upgrade plan

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County supervisors voted Tuesday to back federal legislation to upgrade the Pacific Crest Trail The Pacific Crest Trail (also known as the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail) is a long-distance mountain hiking and equestrian trail that runs from the United States border with Mexico to its border with Canada and follows the highest portion of the Sierra Nevada and  through Agua Dulce.

Done at the urging of Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich Michael Dennis Antonovich (born 1939 in Los Angeles, California) is a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors representing the Fifth District, which covers northern Los Angeles County, the Antelope, Santa Clarita, Pasadena, and parts of the San Fernando and San , the board's action calls for a letter of support for legislation by U.S. Rep. Howard P. ``Buck'' McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, to be sent to President Clinton and the California congressional delegation.

McKeon is seeking $2.5 million to realign a three-mile segment of the 2,638-mile trail, which runs from Canada to Mexico. The segment targeted for upgrading runs along Agua Dulce Canyon Road, which hikers say exposes them to danger from vehicles.

Lancaster chamber to honor area firm

LANCASTER - Lancaster Chamber of Commerce officials will name the outstanding business of the year Saturday at the organization's installation celebration.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Antelope Valley Inn Conference Center, 44055 Sierra Highway. Reservations must be made by today by calling the chamber office at (805) 948-4518. Cost is $35 a person.
