BRIEFLY : 2 SUSPECTS NAMED IN '95 STORE KILLING.


VAN NUYS - A state prison inmate and a man on the run were named on Thursday as suspects in the July 11, 1995, shooting death of a Van Nuys market owner who tried to stop them from stealing a 12-pack of beer.

The holdup and shooting occurred at Top Produce Market, 7444-1/2 Van Nuys Blvd. Proprietor Jyotsna Prajapati, 30, tried to stop the thieves and was shot, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police Detective David Escoto said.

Aaron Reynoso, 19, is believed to have turned and shot the woman once in the head that day. Now in prison on an unrelated charge, he has been charged with one count of murder, the detective said.

Fernando Carbajal, 19, remains at large. Detectives plan to release a photo of him Friday.

Pacheco's selection ``dispels the myth that there isn't significant Latino involvement in the Republican Party,'' said Mike Madrid, political director for the state GOP in Burbank.

Pacheco's selection comes just two years after the Assembly chose Cruz Bustamante, D-Fresno, as the first Latino Assembly Speaker. The Assembly's Latino membership now includes 13 Democrats and four Republicans.
