Gang suspects beat high school student

Forums scheduled on teacher results

Public forums have been scheduled to discuss how best to link employee pay and student achievement within the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Members of a task force charged with forming recommendations on greater employee accountability will hold six public forums - two of which will be in the San Fernando Valley.

The first is scheduled for Saturday at Birmingham High School's auditorium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The campus is at 17000 Haynes St., Van Nuys.

The second meeting in the Valley is scheduled to take place June 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Polytechnic High School's auditorium, 12431 Roscoe Blvd., Sun Valley.

Grupo Televisa, a giant Spanish-language media company based in Mexico City, said in a brief statement Thursday that it had learned that its Los Angeles-based label, Fonovisa, ``has made certain promotional payments in apparent violation of applicable laws.''

The company said it had reported the violations and was cooperating with the Justice Department and other agencies.

Fonovisa soared to prominence in 1995 as the label of Spanish pop star Enrique Iglesias.
