Officials are investigating what caused Julio Giannotti's Plymouth Reliant The Plymouth Reliant (or Reliant K, as it was sometimes called) was one of the first two so-called "K-cars" (the other being the Dodge Aries) the Chrysler Corporation introduced for the 1981 model year.  to swerve off the right shoulder of the northbound lanes, tumble down an embankment and crash into a pillar supporting the Las Virgenes off-ramp.

Giannotti's car veered off the freeway at 12:10 a.m., and paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes. However, the car was so badly smashed that rescue personnel used special machinery to cut open the car and remove him, officials said.

High school hosting Christmas toy drive

Computer donated to youth job group

THOUSAND OAKS - Office Depot has donated a Pentium 133 computer to the Conejo Valley Youth Employment Service.

Earlier this year the service received a donation of Microsoft Office 97 software packages from Microsoft, but its antiquated computers could not handle the modern programs. The service hopes to find additional computers to bring the rest of its office up to date.

The employment service offers job counseling and placement services for Conejo Valley residents ages 13 to 25.
