 and an armored car company have posted a $125,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of robbers responsible for a $1 million-plus weekend heist.

Early Saturday, at least four gunmen in ski masks forced their way into the downtown Dunbar Armored Inc. depot, ordered employees to the ground and scooped up the currency. No shots were fired.

It was possibly the largest robbery in city history, said police Cmdr. David Kalish, who announced the reward offer Thursday.

2 groups to meet on Valley cityhood

The meeting was called by Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association President Richard Close, who is a member of the new San Fernando Valley Secession Board and the group Valley Voters Organized Toward Empowerment.

Police suspect link in teen shootings

Police searched Thursday for suspects in the shooting death of a 16-year-old Van Nuys gang member and are investigating a possible link to a later shooting at Reseda Park, police said.

Francisco Adame was bicycling near his Van Nuys home on the corner of Gloria Avenue and Vanowen Street Tuesday night when the passenger of a compact car shot him once, said homicide Detective Dave Escoto, of the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Department's Van Nuys division.

``We believe it's gang-related, and we're following up on leads,'' Escoto said.

About 90 minutes later, a young male and a 17-year-old female were shot and injured at Reseda Park, Escoto said. Officials said both of those victims will survive.

Adame, who was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8 p.m., was a student at Independence Continuation High School A continuation high school is an alternative to a comprehensive high school primarily for students who are considered at-risk of not graduating at the normal pace. The requirements to graduate are the same but the scheduling is more flexible to allow students to earn their credits  in Van Nuys and previously attended Birmingham High School Birmingham High School is a public coeducational high school in the neighborhood/district of Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley section of the city of Los Angeles, California. The school is a part of District One of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). .

 OKs Alatorre settlement

Almost all American states have such a commission.  voted Thursday to approve a settlement in which City Councilman Richard Alatorre has agreed to pay $6,000 in fines for improperly intervening with a city official to help an event-planning firm founded by his wife.

Commission President Ed Guthman said Alatorre violated ethics laws when he asked a city official to extend the fund-raising license for his wife's firm despite the fact that the license had been canceled because it had not filed financial disclosure forms.

Homeless woman's newborn baby dies

A homeless woman who said she had just given birth handed a dead baby to police Thursday.

Police spokesman Lt. Anthony Alba said the woman, who was not identified, flagged down two officers near downtown around 6:45 a.m. She was holding a dead baby wrapped in plastic and said she delivered the infant about 30 minutes earlier.

The transient, whom police said appeared to be about 35, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
