Southwest Airlines Co. , replaces a number of single-walled underground storage tanks, said airport spokeswoman Mary Knuckles.
The new tank is similar to double-walled tanks Southland gas-station operators have installed in recent months to conform with state regulations designed to stop underground leaks.
As an added security measure, the new Burbank airport tank system is surrounded by a concrete vault, said airport spokesman Sean McCarthy.

The facility holds up to three days worth of fuel for commercial and general aviation operations at the airport. It dispenses an average of 80,000 gallons of fuel per day.

BURBANK - Bret Harte Elementary School elementary school: see school. in Burbank is looking for guest readers to take part in a Community Read-In on Feb. 26.
The event is part of the school's fourth annual Literature Week, marked by a series of events celebrating literature, promoting the joys of reading and the importance of books in today's world.
In addition to guests reading stories to classes in the Read-In, the school is planning a book fair, classroom door displays of a favorite book, a ``dress up as your favorite book character'' day and a visit by storyteller Jim Cogan.
