Witnesses led police to Rodriguez who was arrested several hours after the shooting of Mario Montano, 27, of Reseda. Montano had tried to break up a fight at a 7-Eleven in Reseda early Saturday, but was told by Rodriguez to mind his own business.

Rodriguez's girlfriend, Sucette Lucinda Gallo, 36, was also arrested on suspicion of murder. No charges were filed against her because there was no evidence she knew Rodriguez was actually going to kill Montano, Cohen said.

Commission will consider charging for false alarms

``It's a real shame we have this problem, but it's important we correct it,'' Fleming said. ``To tie up personnel and equipment with false alarms is a terrible waste of money, and also it imperils public safety.''

Fire Chief William Bamattre won commission approval of a report that called for the city to look at ways to reduce false alarms, including education and the possibility of imposing fees for multiple false alarms.

Two killed when car hits stalled van on freeway

MISSION HILLS - Two people were killed Tuesday night when the car they were in ran into a stalled moving van and became pinned underneath, officials said.

The crash happened about 9:25 p.m. on the southbound San Diego Freeway The San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405, and the part of Interstate 5 south of the El Toro Y[1]) is one of the principal north-south highways in Southern California, and the major beltway of I-5 running through Southern California.  just south of Devonshire Street. North Hollywood man, 70, killed in 2-vehicle collision

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A 70-year-old North Hollywood man was killed Tuesday when his car was broadsided as he tried to make a U-turn on a residential street, police said.

Harold Thompson was driving a two-door 1981 Datsun north in the 6400 block of Tujunga Avenue about 7 a.m., when he tried to make a U-turn from the far right lane, and his car was hit by another northbound car, said Officer Chris Cortijo, of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The driver of the other northbound car was taken to the Medical Center of North Hollywood for treatment of serious injuries, Cortijo said.
