U.S. Rep. Howard ``Buck'' McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, has threatened to block the flow of federal funds Federal Funds

 if the agency uses new state and federal transit funds to finish work on the North Hollywood subway line.

Rather than apply for $207 million more in state transit dollars for North Hollywood, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority should shift money designated for suspended rail projects, McKeon said.

McKeon wants the MTA to come up with a more equitable approach to dividing nearly $750 million in new State Transportation Improvement Program funds, derived from federal and state gasoline taxes.

Judge upholds fine against candidate

A Superior Court judge has upheld $59,490 in fines levied by the state Fair Political Practices Commission against former Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  mayoral candidate J. Stanley Sanders for improperly using campaign funds to pay rent for his law firm.

Riordan (born May 1, 1930) is a Republican politician from California, U.S. who served as the California Secretary of Education from 2003–2005 and as Mayor of Los Angeles from 1993–2001. TV journalist with ties to Valley slain

Police were questioning a man found covered in blood Thursday in the apartment of a slain Central Texas television reporter.

The nude body of KWTX reporter Kathryn Dettman, 36, was discovered in her second-floor apartment, where there was no evidence of a break-in or forced entry, police spokesman Tony Hennes said.

Dettman was a graduate of California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , and had been an AP Television Radio Association scholarship winner.

Man, 36, charged in Sylmar shooting

SYLMAR - A 36-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after firing shots through a door, hitting a man in the shoulder and then barricading himself inside his home for nearly four hours, an LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

Eric Frost was charged with one count of attempted murder in the shooting of Michael Giles, who was hit once in the shoulder Monday, then treated and released Tuesday from Olive View Medical Center, said Detective Frank Bishop of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division.

Frost also was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon Assault with a Deadly Weapon is the term used to describe the act of threatening to harm one or more people by using a weapon (usually a firearm). Here, assault must be differentiated from battery as they are often confused. Assault is threatening to use force.  because Giles' brother, Robert, and their mother, Beatrice, also were standing nearby and were identified as victims.

Man's body found on Palmdale road

PALMDALE - The body of a 37-year-old man was found Thursday on an unpaved road in Palmdale, but it was unclear how he died, a Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said.

A motorist spotted the corpse about 4:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of East Avenue S, Deputy Benita Nichol said.

The cause of death will be determined by a coroner's autopsy.

The man's name was withheld until relatives could be notified.
