WOODLAND HILLS - A blaze gutted a dry-cleaning store in the 22700 block of Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S.  early Friday morning, fire officials reported.

Passengers, driver injured in bus crash

SAN DIMAS - Sixteen passengers and a bus driver were hurt Friday when a transit bus A transit bus (also known as a commuter bus) in the United States is usually operated by an urban-suburban bus line, a governmental public transit agency, or a contractor.

Wildfire expands in area U.S. forest

AZUSA - A wildfire in the Angeles National Forest The Angeles National Forest (ANF) was established by executive order on December 20, 1892 as the San Gabriel Timberland Reserve. It covers over 2,600 km² (650,000 acres) and is located in the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles County, just north of the metropolitan area of Los  grew to more than 7,500 acres Friday as firefighters struggled to knock it down.

Flames marched to the northeast and 1,500 firefighters took the precaution of moving engines into the resort town of Wrightwood, four miles northeast of the blaze, said Susie Wood, a U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman.

However, there was no immediate threat to Wrightwood. The wildfire was 29 percent contained early Friday evening, Wood said.

Meanwhile, a smaller fire that consumed nearly 1,200 acres in the San Bernardino County community of Loma Linda was expected to be controlled Friday night, said San Bernardino County fire Capt. Michael Wilson.
