Top-seeded Yevgeny Kafelnikov Yevgeny Aleksandrovich Kafelnikov (born 18 February, 1974; Russian: Евгений Александрович  of Russia defeated No. 8 Byron Black Byron Black (born October 6, 1969 in Salisbury, Rhodesia) is a former touring professional tennis and Davis Cup player for Zimbabwe.

He is the brother of Cara and Wayne Black, both professional tennis players.
, an ex-USC star from Zimbabwe, 7-6, (7-0), 3-6, 6-1 in the final of the $328,000 Australian Hardcourt tennis championships Sunday in Adelaide.

It was the second time in three years Kafelnikov won the title.

Kafelnikov, ranked sixth in the world, struggled in the second set before lifting his game in the decisive set.

Suspended Dallas Cowboys backup cornerback Clayton Holmes has filed a $30 million lawsuit against the NFL and NFL Management Council, alleging that he was improperly drug-tested in March.

Brantle won the women's final in 6.93, breaking her 1993 meet record of 6.95.
