BRIEFLY; THREE FILERS JOIN SIMI SCHOOLS RACE.


SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Three more candidates have filed nomination papers to enter the Simi Valley Unified school board race since Friday's deadline was extended.

The extension was granted because one of the three incumbents, Caesar O. Julian, opted not to seek another term, allowing five more days for potential candidates to pull and file papers.

The three newest candidates are Gloria Bowman, Tim Keaney and Debbie Sadland. The extended deadline ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Incumbents Janice DiFatta and Diane Collins are each seeking another term and will be challenged by Fred Clark, Chris Hamilton Chris Hamilton (born 21 November, 1987 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays as a striker for Dumbarton in the Scottish Second Division. CAMARILLO - Seeing-eye people are giving a blind poodle named Pierre the gift of sight.

Retired police Detective Christa Keesling spotted the blind 9-pound dog at the Commons canine rescue group in Calabasas five months ago and they have been inseparable ever since.

VENTURA - Police issued a warning Wednesday that local restaurants have been the targets of a cleaning bill scam.

Several restaurants have received letters from an individual claiming to have been a recent customer who stained his clothes by sitting in a seat that wasn't properly cleaned. The individual requests reimbursement Reimbursement

Payment made to someone for out-of-pocket expenses has incurred.

Challengers seek water board seats

CALABASAS - Two challengers are going up against two incumbents for seats on the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District board, elections officials said Wednesday.

Incumbent Gordon Knopp of West Hills will be challenged by Charles P. Caspary of Hidden Hills in Division 1. And District 4 incumbent Kenneth Rufener of Westlake Village will be challenged by Glen Longarini of Westlake Village.
